Why is Dental hygiene important?
Prevention is better than cure and following a daily hygiene routine will ensure that you have healthy teeth and gums. This means an attractive smile and improved self-confidence and wellbeing.
Failure to do so can mean bad breath, tooth decay and other dental problems which will require treatment. And, treatment can be both lengthy and costly.
Regular check ups can spot the early signs of tooth decay or some other dental condition and see to it right away. And early treatment means that it is dealt with before becoming a major problem. If these conditions are not treated then they can develop into something more serious such as a loss of teeth.
Your smile is one of the first things people notice about you and if you have stained teeth, or bad breath as a result of gum disease then this is likely to impact upon your confidence. You may find yourself covering your mouth because of embarrassment about your teeth but this needn’t be the case.
If you weigh up the cost of a toothbrush and toothpaste against a couple of fillings or treatment for gum disease then a preventative routine is the cheaper (and better) option.
